QUICK FLOOR: NEW CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Different from the conventional construction method: no need of reinforced concrete, no need of too much wood to support, rapid construction technology of the floor of scientists of the Department of Steel Structure, Faculty of Construction, School Hanoi University of Construction is considered to create a new breakthrough, completely changing the construction method which has existed for a long time; the load capacity of the foundation is higher and the construction time is shorter.
Pour the old style foundation
This technology is called Speedy deck by scientists. This is a continuation product in the series of technologies that apply space structure to construction of this same group of authors. Before Speedy deck, there was a roof structure for works such as dolphin circus show in Tuan Chau (Ha Long), Thien Truong yard (Nam Dinh), Quan Ngua stadium (Hanoi) … but technology limited.
MSc Do Duc Thang, the research team leader, said that the technology nature of Speedy deck is composite frames. This frame is made of corrugated galvanized iron sheet, welded on top with a hollow steel beam, triangular cross section. A 60cm wide plate, 4-6m long, has 2 beams, weighs about 30-40kg, suitable for transportation and assembly.
Finally, concrete is covered over the entire surface. These frames are automatically fabricated in a factory, then one just needs to stitch them together to form a plane, depending on the requirements of use. Thus, this technology has combined the automatic production with a certain process so it will produce a series of products, from which the price will be lowered. Do Van Thang said that only Korea and China have similar technologies at present. Mr. Thang affirmed that, in terms of technology, we are not inferior, even in terms of price, “Made in Vietnam” technology is priced at 20% of the same line of foreign.
Because it is made from corrugated iron, composite panels have very light weight, 70-80% of concrete weight with the same area. Thus, with the same foundation structure, every two floors built in the traditional way is equivalent to the weight of three floors built with Speedy deck. On the other hand, due to no need to use millet wood and labor cost to shed the roof, each new square meter of floor space is about VND 300,000 cheaper than the usual way. Such light but stiff, very high durability. The reason, the corrugated iron material combined with steel beams will create an ideal structure for concrete hardness.
To confirm the quality of technology, the team invited scientists from the Institute of Construction Science and Technology – Ministry of Construction to test the quality of 500m2 of floor at 109 Truong Chinh, Hanoi. The results show that, when the maximum load for residential houses (400kg / m2), the technology has exceeded the strictest standards 11 times in terms of deflection of the floor.
According to Mr. Do Van Thang, the outstanding feature of the product is the ability to execute very quickly. One day, this technology can complete concrete pouring for three floors while the same area, traditional roofing technology takes 15 days. Currently, with Speedy deck technology, each production shift can produce 1,000 m2 of floor, equivalent to the average floor area.
However, one drawback is that with the current structure, the Speedy deck can only withstand one direction. Therefore, the team is improving so that it can work in two directions and replace the concrete lining. It is known that in the near future, Speedy deck technology will be selected by some contractors to build housing quarters for low-income people.
